African Train Lodge is a budget accommodation situated in the city centre of Cape Town, South Africa. It consists of ten tastefully restored and refurbished railway coaches. They have been placed on each side of a long platform, at the old Monument Station at Cape Town. The platform has not been altered, but a beautiful lodge has been built around it.

The accommodation is in 2- and 4- berth compartments (single bed) and we have just finished our brand new double bedrooms. Bathroom facilities have been built behind and separate from the coaches.

We have included two television lounges, one normal lounge, swimming pool, BBQ/braai area and pool tables.

Our pride and joy is our X-Pres cafe & bar. We have a full restaurant in two coaches and on the platform, a beautiful cosy bar in one coach and a central coffee shop. The X-Pres is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner or on request. The X-Pres cafe & bar is a great place to enjoy our food and drinks with your friends, colleagues or to meet new people. It's also very suitable for business lunches or parties.

The Train Lodge also offers a Travel centre, were we can satisfy all your needs to explore Cape Town form site seeing till adventure activities; a lounge were you can relax or play a game of pool. You can sit by our swimming pool and enjoy the Cape Town sun. We also have an internet cafe, so that you can keep in touch with the people back home.
